United Nations COPUOS Side Event “Space ecosystem building in emerging space countries”

During the 64th UN COPUOS session on 3rd September 2021, we held an official side event themed „Space ecosystem building in emerging space countries“ together with our partners from ASD Eurospace and ESPI. This online roundtable was focused on supporting emerging space countries in sharing valuable information and experience regarding scaling up their national space ecosystems for the benefit of their society and economy.

Three thematic presentations were given by the Slovak Space Office, the ASD Eurospace, and the European Space Policy Institute, including a Q&A session and discussion.

The speakers of this UN COPUOS side-event session were:

  • Mr. Michal Brichta, the Head of the Slovak Space Office Industry Branch, will be given a presentation on the Slovak experience as an emerging space country
  • Mr. Olivier Lemaitre, the Secretary-General at the ASD Eurospace, will be given a talk on bridging the well-established industrial players with emerging space ecosystems
  • Mr. Sebastien Moranta, Research Manager at European Space Policy Institute, will be given a presentation on the European perspective to emerging spacefaring nations
  • Mr. Daniel Sagath, International Cooperation Manager at the Slovak Space Office Industry branch, the moderator of this side event

We are happy to see a growing interest in this topic all around the world, including the LSI and other large companies aiming to diversify their supply chain and identify new ideas or products. We would like to thank the Secretariat of the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs for their help in organizing this side-event. More details you can find in the attached official flyer of the event or via the UN OOSA webpage

Last week’s discussion was just the first out of many planned opportunities to talk about the topics concerning emerging space countries and their role in global space. Some of such upcoming opportunities will include the World EXPO in Dubai, IAC 2021, or our annual Emerging Space conference.
