EUROPEAN SPACE ECOSYSTEM INTEGRATION SUMMIT
Europe is a unique regional space ecosystem. Thanks to both the ESA and the EU, it has the advantage of unprecedented connectivity among its industrial actors. At the same time, no other region in the world has so many emerging space ecosystems within developed economies offering well-established R&D institutions with relevant expertise, strong STEM education centers ready to prepare a new talent base, and high-tech companies capable of bringing their know-how to space.
Efficiently unlocking and integrating this untapped potential will support the growth of the emerging space ecosystems of Europe, creating demand for increased investment, and demand for space in general. It will bring innovation and new niche technology rather than competitive duplicity, and gradual growth in the common budget rather than fragmented initiatives.
Three successful editions of the European Space Ecosystem Integration Summit (two in Bratislava, one in ESA ESRIN) were held to foster such integration between the well-established industry and the emerging space ecosystems of European space. This year, the meeting was attended by approximately three dozen participants, representatives of leading space companies and emerging space ecosystems of Europe. The Summit was also joined by observers from the European Space Agency, EURISY, EARSC (European Association of Remote Sensing Companies), and YEESS (Young European Enterprises Syndicate).
The discussion traditionally centered around new collaboration opportunities and challenges that companies and emerging space ecosystems meet and have to deal with. Participants presented their current industrial and research & development capacities to outline prospective areas and projects that create opportunities for new partnerships. The Summit also discussed challenges in the market structure and institutional setting of the sector, including issues of talent support and workforce development, financial and market barriers for growth, topics of political and public engagement, or integration and collaboration gaps. We are convinced that ESEIS will contribute to making our European space ecosystem better integrated and more cohesive, and through that – stronger and more competitive.
The next edition of ESEIS will take place in Q2 2026. Selected companies and institutions will receive their invitations in January. In case you would like to check the eligibility of your organisation to join this invitation-only event, please reach out to us via spaceoffice@sario.sk.
